The Viewing Local Businesses Suffer (and Sometimes Prosper)

I have been listening more attentively in the recent past to how small business in the town are attempting to make them known on the web, particularly to the ones which have been in the business over the years but are now feeling invisible. It is this family owned shop that everyone recognizes in real life but when you search what this specific shop does they hardly appear. At the same time, there is the more recent establishment that appears all over the place, although half of the people I communicate with do not love them. It is weird that online presence and the real life reputation are so distant.

I have not been employed as a full-time marketer, but I assisted two of my friends with their sites and listing, and mostly by trial and error. The thing I have learnt is that many business owners believe that being online simply means having a Web site and perhaps a Facebook page. They are not aware of how little details can make a difference such as old time hours, wrong addresses, or reviews that do not receive responses. Those are trifles but they count.

One friend who runs a home service business told me he finally started looking into seo services spring tx after realizing most of his calls came from people who said, "I found you on Google." That was a wakeup call of sorts to him not in the sense that SEO is some kind of magic but in the sense that it demonstrated how people are actually discovering businesses these days. It is not so much about the fancy strategies but clear and honest demonstration where people are already looking.

The thing that I find interesting is the personal nature of it all. Regardless of your intentions, your online presence comes up with a story about your business. There are those stories which seem true and reliable; there are those which seem abandoned. I wonder how others in this group have observed this performance, particularly on local businesses that you may be interested in.
